Broken tools, beautiful projects, and what’s next!
Last week, I hosted my 4th and 5th event of the year. We made leather lighter & lipgloss holders on 313 Day and wire wrapped rings this past Sunday.
This is my week “off” so I am catching up on admin and preparing for what’s next.
Sunday April 12th join me a Post for a resin accessories make and take. Drop by to embed flowers, beads, paper and more into uv resin. If you have a memory you’d like to preserve or a pretty stone you found on a walk, feel free to bring that too! We’ll turn it into a pendant or keychain.
I learned a lot from hosting back to back workshops. Mostly that I be tired lol but I always have a lot of fun. I always enjoy seeing what folks come up with and the spins you guys put on the projects.
Good. Better. Best. Leather Lighter Keychains
I did a good job making samples of the project to clearly show what we would be making. The picture above (Bottom) are the two I made. Working with the different materials gave me a chance to work out any bugs before hand.
What could have been better? Promoting the event earlier. Also, having more tools. I grew up the only child so I definitely tell people how to play with my toys. At this workshop a tool was broken that was crucial to the finishing process. Which has me thinking about order of operations. Maybe there is something only I do for guests. Like punching the last hole with a larger leather punch for the grommet. I’ll think it over. This still allows guest to do all the other steps on their own and I just top it off to protect equipment. “Every time I teach I learn.”
Collaboration was done best. I made the samples, they were dropped off at Cure to be photographed for promotion. The collab post on socials received over 34k views. Which is a great way to reach new audiences and cross pollinate.
I’m excited to do this workshop again with even more leather.
Good. Better. Best. Wire Wrapped Rings
There were lots of examples this go round because I made so many during the last class. Good job on that.
Although I had almost twice as many RSVPS as the Sunday before, I could’ve done a better job at marketing the event. With back to back workshops I didn’t want to flood the timeline and really leaned on email. Still a success but I can do better.
What I feel I did best this workshop was getting new faces in. I also captured more videos for future promotion. Every one left happy so I was happy.
Next to woodworking, jewelry and accessories are my most popular workshops so I am going to lean into that heavier.
Until next time!
Stay Krafty,
Trice
